ABOUT
Nilo is the new voice of contemporary Latin music. Having grown up in Miami, FL, she was always surrounded by a variety cultures and styles that inspired her to develop her own. At a very young age, she knew music would be the path towards understanding her identity. Her artistic journey began with the exploration of traditional music from indigenous communities in her birth land, Colombia. This interest led to her extensive study in folk music from Latin America along with other regions of the world. In 2017, she auditioned to Berklee College of music with a native song from the Inga tribe, and was awarded a scholarship as a voice principal. There, she refined her skills as a vocalist, songwriter, composer and arranger. This also allowed her to dive into new sonic worlds of jazz, soul, R&B, Bossa, Balkan and more. Her innovative approach to Latin music is owed to her distinct voice that embodies raw feeling and sincerity while uplifting and reminding us why music is a part of our essence.
